Program & Itinerary
Day 1: The Day of Adventure Experience (L/D)
Pick up from hotel, visit the Hill tribe museum to get a general idea of the tribal life in Thailand, especially of the Hmong Tribe. Continue to Mae Malai Market, where the local crops are sold daily. Some of these products can only be found in this area. Go along a rural road to an elephant camp and enjoy an hour of elephant riding in the green scenery of tropical forest. A short trip of oxcart riding is also included. Regain your energy for the next activity with lunch at the elephant camp. We then drive through the dirt roads to the rafting camp. After a rafting security demonstration, we paddle down the Mae Taeng River on a rubber boat along 2nd and 3rd level of rapids for 45 minutes. This adventurous day ends at Hmong Hilltribe Lodge for a BBQ dinner and Hmong Hill tribe performance.
Day 2: The Day of Thai Local Life and Highlands (B/L/D)
Start a beautiful day by taking a short walk around the Thai farm village, Ban Mae Paa, and be greeted by the friendly smiles of Thai families. Then start cycling along a rural road from Ban Mae Paa to Ban Pohng Gwao village. For the really active ones, there will be a 10-12 kilometers cycling trip up to the Mar Pban irrigation reservoir ending at the Pohng Gwao hot spring. Cycling is one of the best ways to get in touch with the local people and culture. You will love the Thai countryside and green paddy fields – you will see different kinds of farming depending on the season. After a picnic lunch drive up to Ban Nhong Hoi Mai Village, where the Hmong tribe people have settled down for more than 40 years. Because of the location, which is higher than 1000 meters above sea level, the tribe is skilled in highland agriculture and produces good quality crops to the markets. The day continues with a 90 minute trek to Ban Mae Khi before returning to Hmong Hilltribe Lodge for an afternoon rest.
** Remark: Today's cycling and hiking can be altered to follow your own personal skill and interest. These 2 main activities (cycling and hiking) can furthermore be swapped at anytime to be done in the morning or afternoon, downhill or uphill.
In the early evening, join a small Thai cooking course with our chef. You will learn to cook several kinds of Thai dishes. Finish the day by enjoying your own delicious food.
Day 3: The Day of Relaxation (B/L)
One and a half hour traditional Thai massage is ready to serve you by the swimming pool. After a half day of relaxation we check out from Hmong Hilltribe Lodge and visit the Nhong Hoi Kao Royal Project Foundation.
